The best social media MCP server in 2026 depends on one question: does your agent only publish, or does it also answer people? For agents that read and reply to comments, DMs, Google reviews and mentions, SocialAPI.ai, Zernio and Upload-Post are the top three, and all three run hosted with OAuth 2.1 and dynamic client registration. For publish-only agents, Buffer is free and Outstand starts at $19 a month.

We checked ten servers against their own docs, pricing pages and tool catalogs on 30 September 2026. Tool counts range from 13 (Postiz) to 280+ (Zernio), and the count predicts almost nothing. What separates them is whether a tool like reply_to_comment exists at all, whether claude.ai can connect without a pasted key, and whether the price holds when a brand adds a third network.

How we ranked these social media MCP servers

The three top-ranking lists for this query each put their author's product first and grade on posting alone. Blotato's list scores one test, whether the agent actually publishes (Blotato, updated 28 September 2026). An agent that can post but can't read the replies is half an agent, so we scored four things, in this order of weight:

1. 1.Engagement depth over MCP: named tools to read and reply to comments, read and send DMs, reply to reviews, and handle mentions. Publishing is assumed.
2. 2.Connection model: a hosted endpoint with OAuth 2.1 and dynamic client registration connects from claude.ai, ChatGPT and Cursor without pasting a key. Local stdio servers and header-only API keys score lower.
3. 3.Coverage through official platform APIs: networks counted from the vendor's MCP page, not its homepage. Scraping services are listed separately.
4. 4.Price to start and price at scale, from each vendor's public pricing page.

Which social media MCP servers can read comments, DMs and reviews?

None of the three top-ranking lists for this query separates servers that answer people from servers that only post. This matrix does. "Yes" means a named MCP tool exists in the vendor's catalog, not that the vendor's REST API can do it somewhere.

Two columns decide most shortlists. Reviews narrows the field to two named tool sets, and MCP auth decides whether a non-developer can connect the server from claude.ai at all. A server that needs a static Authorization header works in Claude Code and Cursor but not in a claude.ai custom connector, which Ayrshare's own docs state for its server.

1. SocialAPI.ai: best for agents that answer comments, DMs, reviews and mentions

SocialAPI.ai's MCP server is remote at https://api.social-api.ai/mcp and exposes 75+ tools over the same REST API that powers its dashboard (integration docs). The catalog covers publishing, comments (reply, private reply, hide, like, delete), DMs, Google Business Profile reviews, mentions, webhooks, analytics and exports, on 13 networks: Instagram, Facebook, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, X, Bluesky, LinkedIn, Telegram, WhatsApp, Zalo, Pinterest and Google Business Profile.

Authorization is OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, and the server publishes RFC 8414 metadata with a registration endpoint, so claude.ai, ChatGPT, Mistral Le Chat, Cursor and VS Code discover it and connect without a pasted key. Every connection goes through the platforms' official APIs. Pricing is flat per brand: one brand covers all of its networks, from a free plan with MCP access to $29 a month for 10 brands and $109 for 50 (pricing).

Pick another server when: you need Reddit, Discord, Snapchat or Mastodon (Zernio, Postiz), ad accounts (Zernio), or review sources beyond Google Business Profile. The tool count is also about a quarter of Zernio's.

2. Zernio: best for platform breadth and ads

Zernio (formerly Late) runs a hosted server at https://mcp.zernio.com/mcp with OAuth 2.1, PKCE and open dynamic client registration, or a local build through uvx --from zernio-sdk[mcp] zernio-mcp (Zernio setup docs). Its blog counts 280+ tools across posting, comments, DMs, analytics and ads on 15 networks, including Reddit, Discord, Snapchat and Telegram (Zernio).

The docs describe 20 core tools plus one generated tool per API endpoint, which is how the count gets that high. Billing is per connected account: the first two are free, then $6 each for accounts 3 to 10 and $3 each from 11 to 100 (pricing). Ten brands on three networks is 30 accounts, or $108 a month, against $29 on SocialAPI.ai. For a single brand on three networks, Zernio costs $6.

3. Upload-Post: best cheap entry with Google review replies

Upload-Post ships an MIT-licensed server, hosted at https://mcp.upload-post.com/mcp or local through npx -y @upload-post/mcp, with OAuth 2.1 (RFC 8414, RFC 7591, PKCE, RFC 7009) or an API key (Upload-Post docs). The GitHub README lists 58 tools, including reply_to_comment, send_dm, list_dm_conversations, get_google_business_reviews and reply_to_google_business_review (GitHub).

The MCP page lists 13 networks and says the server works on every plan, free tier included (Upload-Post MCP). Paid plans start at $24 a month. The catalog has no mention tools, and its own pages give four different tool counts (40, 50, nearly 60, 58), so check the README before you plan around a specific tool.

4. Ayrshare: best for teams already on Ayrshare

Ayrshare now runs two servers. The older one only searches documentation; the newer Action MCP at https://api.ayrshare.com/mcp has 27 tools that post, read and reply to comments, and read and send DMs (Ayrshare tools). The catalog has no review tools.

Authentication is a Bearer API key, with extra OAuth 1.0a headers for X. The connect guide says Claude Desktop and claude.ai custom connectors can't authenticate because "Ayrshare publishes no OAuth metadata" (Ayrshare connect guide). 5. Blotato: best for creators generating content in the agent

Blotato's hosted server at https://mcp.blotato.com/mcp exposes 36 tools on 9 networks and says it is "built on each platform's official API rather than browser automation" (Blotato MCP). Its strength is the creator workflow around posting: visuals, content extraction from links and videos, a content calendar.

Comments and DMs work on Instagram and Facebook only. Claude connects over OAuth; other clients send a blotato-api-key header. The 7-day trial excludes the API and MCP, so testing means paying for Starter at $29 a month.

6. Outstand: best per-post pricing for publishing agents

Outstand's hosted server (https://mcp.outstand.so/mcp, OAuth or API key) has 28 tools across 12 networks, including get_replies and create_reply for comment threads (Outstand MCP docs). The MCP catalog has no DM or review tools, even though its REST API advertises DMs.

Pricing is the reason to pick it: $19 a month includes 3,000 posts, then $0.007 per post up to 10,000 (Outstand). There is no free plan. Our Outstand comparison covers the REST side.

7. Buffer: best free server for scheduling

Buffer's server at https://mcp.buffer.com/mcp has 20 tools for channels, posts, ideas, templates and post metrics on 11 networks (Buffer developer docs). MCP access is on every plan, Free included (buffer.com/mcp), and Claude connects over OAuth.

There are no comment, DM or review tools. If your agent drafts and schedules posts for a person who already uses Buffer, it is the obvious pick; if it has to answer anyone, it isn't. See the Buffer comparison.

8. Postiz: best open-source option to self-host

Postiz builds its MCP server into the app, so it runs on Postiz cloud or on your own server under AGPL-3.0. Its docs list 13 tools and say plainly that "the current tool set is read-only on integrations and write-only on posts/media" (Postiz MCP docs), with no comment or reply tools.

Coverage is the widest here, at 30+ channels including Mastodon, WordPress and Discord. Self-hosting is free; cloud plans start at $29 a month with MCP on every plan (Postiz pricing). Pick it when data has to stay on your infrastructure.

9. bundle.social: best for local, API-key setups

bundle.social's bundlesocial-mcp runs locally over stdio (npx bundlesocial-mcp) with a BUNDLESOCIAL_API_KEY variable; a hosted server is on its roadmap (bundle.social MCP docs). It lists 40+ tools across posts, comments, media, analytics and teams on 14+ networks.

No DM or review tools appear in the MCP docs. The free plan covers 3 accounts with API access; PRO is $100 a month (bundle.social pricing). Local-only means no claude.ai or ChatGPT connector until the hosted version ships.

10. OpenTweet: best for X-only agents

OpenTweet is the specialist: 43 tools for X posting, threads, articles, evergreen queues, analytics and DM campaigns, hosted at https://mcp.opentweet.io/mcp or local through @opentweet/mcp-server (OpenTweet MCP docs). No X developer account is needed.

Auth is an API key only. Plans start at $11.99 a month on current pricing with a 7-day trial (OpenTweet pricing). For an agent that lives on X and nowhere else, it goes deeper than any multi-network server here.

Does a higher tool count make a better MCP server?

No. Zernio generates one tool per REST endpoint, OpenTweet splits X into 43 narrow tools, and Postiz does its job with 13. What matters is whether the tool you need exists. A 280-tool server and a 28-tool server both fail an agent that has to reply to a Google review if neither has the tool.

What about Vista Social, SocialPilot, Metricool and SocialBee?

Several social media suites now ship MCP servers. They sit outside the ranking because each one is a dashboard product first, with MCP access tied to a seat plan rather than sold as developer infrastructure.

• Vista Social: a hosted MCP with publishing, analytics and an inbox that covers DMs, comments, mentions and reviews (Vista Social). Its pricing page lists MCP from the $99/mo Professional plan, while its integrations page says Advanced and up.
• SocialPilot: a hosted server (https://mcp.socialpilot.co/mcp) for creating, scheduling and approving posts on 7 networks, included on every plan from $30/mo (SocialPilot).
• Metricool: scheduling and analytics on every plan including Free. Its FAQ says inbox messages, post comments and Google Business Profile reviews "are not available through the MCP" (Metricool FAQ).
• SocialBee: no official MCP server on its integrations page as of 30 September 2026; only third-party wrappers exist.

One more category shows up in directories: scrapers. SociaVault's MCP has 107 tools and calls itself "read-only by design", pulling public data rather than acting through the account owner's official API access (SociaVault). It suits research agents, not agents that act for a brand.

How do you connect a social media MCP server to Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT?

Hosted servers with OAuth take one command or one URL. In Claude Code, add the server and approve the browser prompt the first time a tool runs. In Cursor, point mcp.json at the same URL. The SocialAPI.ai endpoint is used below; swap in any hosted URL from the matrix.

In claude.ai and ChatGPT, add a custom connector with the same URL, or search the connector directory where a vendor is listed (Claude setup). Header-only servers such as Ayrshare's need a client that sends custom headers, which today means Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code or n8n.

Which social media MCP server should you pick?

If end users connect their own accounts, only the three OAuth 2.1 servers work from claude.ai and ChatGPT without a key. Choose SocialAPI.ai when reviews, mentions or a flat per-brand bill matter, Zernio when you need Reddit, Discord or ads, and Upload-Post when the budget is under $25 a month.

If the agent runs on your own accounts from Claude Code or Cursor, API-key servers are fine and the choice comes down to networks and price. Publish-only agents should start on Buffer's free plan and move to Outstand when post volume grows. X-only agents belong on OpenTweet.

Which social media MCP server supports Trustpilot or Google reviews?
